Advent Wreath

The Advent wreath represents the long time when people lived in spiritual darkness, waiting for the coming of the Messiah, the Light of the world.

Live Christ Share Christ

The Live Christ Share Christ (LCSC) is our response to the call to New Evangelization. It is the goal of LCSC to bring nominal Catholics back to active involvement in the Church, and to start to deepen the faith of everyone in the parish. The entry point is a Life in Christ Retreat/Seminar (LCS) which helps bring Catholics to transformation in Christ, with a continuing personal relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord.

'Tis the Season

The Season of Advent is upon us. Come celebrate with us at Blessed Sacrament.

For the 4 weeks of Advent, the parish message will develop around the title, "'Tis the Season..." The staff has chosen this theme in recognition of the many people who find their lives filled with Tension at this time of year.

In the First Sunday of Advent, we will develop a message centering on the Tension people experience in life, and how that Tension grows during the "Season." This weekend's readings call the Faithful to focus the Tension on Conversion and Change of Self. Since Tension is a norm in many lives, the question we need to ask ourselves is, "Where am I putting my Tension?"

In the Second Sunday of Advent, the theme of Life change will continue. In the readings, the stark figure of St. John the Baptist calls his listeners to a change of life. For Christians, Advent is a time of Conversion and preparation. For many people, their day-to-day lives are not focussed on spiritual matters, but are consumed with material matters. In reality, it is not the season of parties, gifts, and bows. Rather, 'Tis the Season of preparation for the Coming of the Lord.

In the Third Sunday of Advent, we recognize how much the secular world turns up the pace in the lives of so many. Rushing from one event and store to another. In the midst of this craziness are all of life's usual challenges. On this Gaudete Sunday, the Faithful are reminded that, despite all the Tension, 'Tis the Season of Rejoicing.

In the Fourth Sunday of Advent, with one week until Christmas most people are consumed with details and plans. In the readings, St. Joseph uproots his family and life based on a revelation he receives in a dream. Talk about Tension! We must be reminded this week that Advent is a Season of Promise, not one of dread. In this weekend's readings, we are reminded that Advent 'Tis the Season in which we embrace Emmanuel, God With Us! So where have you put your Tension this Advent - in spiritual conversion and preparation for Emmanuel, or in checking lists and running crazy? Hopefully by this fourth Sunday you can say, "'Tis the Season... of Peace!"
